For this Lunch & Learn, artist Robert Kroeger will be talking to participants about barn stories, his art, and his book on historic barns in Ohio. Boxed lunches will be provided.
"Though I won't be doing a painting demo of an old barn, I'll spend an hour telling intriguing barn stories about both conventional barns and round ones (far less than one percent of all barns built). I'll try to include stories about some of the 11 Ohio round barns, which are in my book. After the talk, I'll sign books. I'll begin telling stories at 11:30 AM - for about an hour.
I'll sign Historic Barns of Ohio, which lists the paintings and essays of barns in all 88 Ohio counties (released by The History Press, March, 2021) and I'll also sign my new full-color book, Round Barns of America, published by Acclaim Press in late 2022. This book features 75 round barns in 32 states, stretching from the east coast to the Wild West, and includes their stories, which range from the mid-1700s and the French and Indian War to more recent times, when an Iowa barn enthusiast built five stone round barns! Both books went through their first printings within a year of publication and both will be for sale at this event. (The painting displayed is of an historic barn in Muskingum County and is featured in the book, Historic Barns of Ohio.)"
