Join us at the MCLS Dresden Branch Library for an evening celebrating African American musical heritage. Enjoy snacks and refreshments starting at 5:30 pm, followed by the public program from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Renowned local composer, teacher, vocalist, conductor, and “Rock Historian” Charles Savage will lead a special event commemorating the musical legacy of a legendary talent with Zanesville origins.
Albert Sears is widely recognized for his pivotal role in shaping the influential sound of Rock and Roll. His distinguished career included performing at the Harlem Renaissance Ballroom (Alto Saxophone), serving as Lead Tenor Saxophonist for Duke Ellington's band, and founding the Sylvia Music Company. Sears made significant contributions across the genres of Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, and Rock and Roll.
