African American Football History

Dr. Robin Muhammad of Ohio University examines the history, challenges, and triumphs of African American football players who reshaped the sport.

Join Dr. Robin Muhammad, Associate Professor and Chair of African American Studies at Ohio University, for an in-depth look at the history and legacy of African American football players. This engaging Black History Month program explores how these athletes overcame adversity, broke racial barriers, and transformed the sport at both collegiate and professional levels. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view archival materials—including historic photographs and newspaper articles—that highlight their stories and achievements, with a special focus on players from Ohio.
