Welcome to the Muskingum County Library System
Learn about how youth can get involved through the Muskingum County 4-H PetPALS project.
Stop by the John McIntire Library Lobby to learn about how youth can get involved through the Muskingum County 4-H PetPALS project. PetPALS (“People and Animals Linking Successfully") is an intergenerational program of The Ohio State University Extension to connect youth and pets with senior adults. The project includes connections with at-risk youth, schools, and hospitals.
Through the PetPALS project, 4-H volunteers teach youth skills to participate in animal-assisted activities. The project involves a 10-step lesson program with club leaders; the project prepares youth to certify their animals to visit facilities with the club. Certifications and facility visits are built into the curriculum as part of the project.
The PetPALS 4-H project is open to youth ages 8 and in the third grade, or age 9+ and in any grade--as of Jan. 1, 2024--through age 19. Contact Hooves and Paws 4-H Club at hoovesandpaws2018@gmail.com with questions.
